festivals and fairs, conferences, assemblies, ceremonies, prayer services,
service projects, marches and parades, peace film screenings, peace vigils
and many other observances.
Please
participate in an event on Peace Day. Together we can help create
humanity's first day of peace ever ... 
If
there aren't any big events taking place near you, get family or friends
together and have a Peace Vigil. Please post your event on the InternationalDayOfPeace.org
website so that our leaders, the media, and the mainstream will see that
we want a more peaceful, just and sustainable world for all, every day
of the year!

There's
still time to ask your Mayor, Governor and Head of State to issue a proclamation
for Peace Day!
Many
proclamations have already been issued by Mayors and Governors that we
don't know about. If you've received a proclamation please fax or email
it so that we can post it on the InternationalDayOfPeace.org website!

GLOBAL PEACE FILM FESTIVAL
The
4th Annual Global Peace Film Festival opens Sept. 14, 2006, and
runs through Sept. 21st, 2006. Over 40 features, documentaries and
shorts will be shown, along with panel discussions and guest speakers.
The outreach program will present screenings and discussions at
various community centers, schools and colleges. A
special Peace Day program will be held on September 21, the last
day of the festival at Rollins College.

A high-level conference for Interfaith Cooperation for Peace is
taking place at the United Nations on the International Day of Peace,
attended by governments, UN agencies and civil society organization
representatives. Two other events are taking place at the UN as
well - the ringing of the Peace Bell by the UN Secretary-general
and celebrity Peace Ambassadors, and a conference with hundreds
of local school children and celebrity Peace Ambassadors webcast
on the UN Cyberschoolbus site.
